Suggested rigs to use

1. Single Hook Paternoster

Probably the most straight forward of rigs, quick to tie, pretty much zero tangles, and especially effective for self-hooking fish. Hook size according to what bait you are using, and what fish you are targeting. Rig-body also optional in its length, but the hook link must be at least six inches longer than the body. When you load your bait into the chamber, there must be slack in the hooklink, once the bait has been firmly pushed to the end of the chamber. This paternoster utilises crimps and beads to trap the dropper swivel. You might have your own method of achieving this effect.

2. Double Pulley

One of our favourite rigs for delivering two large baits a very long way. Note the DVice is free running on the rig body. You must remember to always load the bottom hook into the chamber first, to prevent tangling on ejection. Also, the bottom hooklink must not reach the swivel at the top. On retrieve, you will get some slight wrapping of the hooklinks, easy to unspin. This has been a very effective method for us delivering herring baits for Thornback ray, and is proving very effective for large lug and squid baits targeting codling.

3. Running Ledger

Simplest, but still one of the best. Especially if using very long hooklinks, fishing at range. The Dvice enables you to use very long hooklinks, without the need for clips or links.

4. Ada's Rig

Reproduced with kind permission of Hayling Island Angling coach and journalist Adrian Farley. Adrian was one of the very first people to lay his hands on the commercially available DVice, and put it to good use straight away. He had some fantastic hauls of Black Bream near to his home back in April and May, went on to use it to great effect in the now infamous "Smoothound summer"of 2007, and is now using it to great effect on the codling shoals. Above is a modification of the "wishbone" set up, created by Ada for breaming from the shore with the DVice.
